Pia is a Finnish-born, UK-based perfumer who views scent as a form of communication and perfumes as bottled stories. With an upbringing and education rooted in studying languages, translation and writing, she approaches her craft with an instinct for the cross-modal nature of perfumery.

Interpreting a client brief to an evocative scent, she conjures imaginative experiences for multitude of product and project types.

A London College of Fashion graduate, she is a member of the International Society of Perfumer Creators (ISPC), on the executive board of IFRA UK, the perfumery unit educator on the Society of Cosmetic Scientists Distance Study Diploma course and a recipient of the Septimus Piesse Award for Exceptional Vision from the Institute for Art and Olfaction.

Pia’s journey into fragrance started in the 1980s and she has gathered valuable experience across almost the entire value chain.

Her debut book, Demo Accords was a first: a multidisciplinary political protest book with ten fully published perfume formulas accompanied by thematically linked essays.

Nick approaches scent through his fluency in culture, science, and understanding of its power to transmit meaning.

He began working in fragrance retail at the turn of the millennium, before moving seamlessly via training, marketing, writing and fragrance development roles. With an academic background in psychology and experience working directly with perfumers, he has spent his entire career learning how both consumers and perfumers think, and now acts as an interpreter between these worlds.

He has been instrumental in the creation of globally best-selling perfumes and building the narratives that surround them. Nick has received a Jasmine Award for his fragrance journalism, delivered lectures at academic institutions, taught about fragrance all over the globe, and is frequently quoted by press and writers thanks to his unique perspective.

At Olfiction, he is Managing Director and a multi-hyphenate creative, writing copy, designing training, hosting events, evaluating fragrances and using his expertise to identify and analyse trends.
